Why is all of this political chaos happening now? Why are so many people financially hurting?

The problems in the federal government are caused by a variety of factors. The major cause is having one party hold the House, Senate, and the Presidency. This alone is not enough to cause all the damage. Below are some of the other factors.

• The president has such a large following, MAGA. It enables Trump to threaten any politician in his party that disagrees with him. He has successful experiences in his first term on retaliating against dissidents in his own party. This has put fear in Republican Senators and Representatives.
• The greed and fear among House representatives and Senators in his party enable Trump to gradually take actions that hurt democracy, citizens, and constitutional laws.
• Trump takes more steps to gain control through ICE and weaponizing the DOJ.
• The Citizens United Supreme Court case enabled Corporations to spend unlimited money supporting politicians that return the favor my creating laws to help the corporation or eliminating laws that cost them money but protect the environment. The news media is being more and more controlled by fewer people. News is suppressed. Oligarchs’ support for Data Centers in the US will destroy the water supply, make loud noise in their communities 24/7, and dramatically increase the cost of electricity.
• Republican senators and representatives do not speak out against his outrageous comments, such as supporting dictators, racist comments, violations of international law, rude, threatening remarks against Democrat politicians and judges that vote against his ideas. He publicly says he should have more power and that he is immune to prosecution.
• Humans tend to prioritize the short term over the long term.
• Increasing poverty makes citizens too busy to notice what is going on.
• Oligarchs and Trump have put pressure on the news Media.
• Most of the news media are owned by a very small number of people.

All of the above create a perfect storm for cutting back on democracy. 

These perfect storms have happened before with devastating effects on the citizens of a country and damage to other countries.

This happened in Germany, which caused WW2, killed tens of millions of people in concentration camps, and put the world at war to stop Adolf Hitler.

This happened in Italy when Benito Mussolini came to power using these “black shirts” to eventually eliminate democracy. The same process of a military group like the SS in Germany was used in Italy.  The same thing also occurred in Spain with General Francisco Franco.

Short-term benefits versus long-term security.

Currently, the Republicans enjoy power, money, and security in their jobs. They ignore the fact that personal freedoms are being taken away. They do not think these actions will be used against them. In Nazi Germany, some Jews thought they could work with Hitler. “Power corrupts, and unlimited power corrupts completely,” source unknown. Consider the Epstein case and the inaction on this case. America’s reaction to this is unbelievable. The same could be said about Germany, Italy, and Spain.

The Power of Personality

Hitler, Mussolini, General Francisco Franco, and Trump have/had cult followers. In the beginning, people fall prey to the grandiose statements and promises.

Eventually, the promises go unfulfilled, and people within the cult start to pull away. In time, there is either an uprising or the leader’s death. However, the damage can be extensive. The longer this situation lasts, the more damage and suffering will occur.

Where is the solution? It is in the individual voters. The midterm election can change the federal government so that it is no longer controlled by a single party. If the House of Representatives and/or the Senate changes party control, the President will be prevented from doing further damage. The President could be close to being impeached. He would need to behave differently. Individual citizens are the solution. Vote!
