Linda McMahon, Secretary of Education

Here is another example of hiring a totally unqualified person for the Secretary of Education.

As of March 2025, Linda McMahon is the 13th United States Secretary of Education. She graduated from East Carolina University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in French and a teaching certificate. While she originally aimed to be a teacher, she pursued a career in business, co-founding WWE, but later served on the Connecticut State Board of Education and as a trustee for Sacred Heart University.

Key Educational & Board Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: East Carolina University (1969), French.
  • Certifications: Teaching certificate.
  • State Board of Education: Served nearly one year on the Connecticut State Board of Education
  • University Trustee: Served on the board of trustees for Sacred Heart University (2004–2017; returned 2021).
  • Honorary Degree: Holds a doctorate of humanities from East Carolina University.

McMahon’s career has primarily focused on business administration, having served as CEO of WWE and as administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2017 to 2019. As Secretary of Education, she has focused on school choice, empowering states, and workforce-aligned education.

She is a proponent of School Choice, empowering states as a means of shifting costs from the federal government to the state government.

Higher Education

  • East Carolina University (ECU): She graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French.
  • Academic Focus: Her college program was specifically designed to prepare students for instruction/teaching.

Honorary Degrees: She holds an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from ECU and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Sacred Heart University.

Educational Leadership Roles

Beyond her personal schooling, McMahon has held several high-level positions in education administration:

  • Board of Trustees, Sacred Heart University: Served for roughly 16 years (2004–2017 and 2021–2025) and previously acted as the board’s treasurer.
  • Connecticut State Board of Education: Served for approximately one year starting in 2009, where she advocated for teacher empowerment and student excellence.

America First Policy Institute (AFPI): Chaired this think tank, which focused on education reforms such as school choice, parental empowerment, and workforce development.

McMahon does not have a master’s degree. A Master’s degree is a requirement for a PhD. To get a PhD, you need to have fluency in 2 foreign languages and write a dissertation on the area of your PhD that has never been written about before.

It appears that this honorary degree was awarded because McMahon donated significant funds to the University.

So, McMahon was not a teacher for an extended period of time, nor earned a MA or PhD degree. Despite this, she was chosen as Secretary of Education. This is a selection of loyalty over competence.

Linda McMahon has been one of Donald Trump’s largest financial supporters, contributing over 20 million to his campaigns and aligned super PACs for the 2024 election alone. Her 2024 support included at least 10 million to the Make America Great Again Inc. PAC and significant funds for a Madison Square Garden rally.

Secretary McMahon has been dismantling the Department of Education. Previously, the Department of Education financially supported public education to the extent that, on average, every public school district in the county gets 14 % of its funding from the Department of Education. This is changing now. The states will now have to absorb these losses through cuts. Your federal taxes paid for the 14 % funding. Linda McMahon is doing Trump’s wishes. She is eliminating the Department of Education piece by piece.

These cuts will be felt this year in every school district throughout the country. Your local school district taxes will increase. Many states have restrictions on how much school taxes can be increased in a year. They cannot go up 14%. So existing programs will need to be cut. Contact your representatives and senators.
